What is Yukar?
Yukar are oral legends told by the Ainu from generation to generation.
In honor of that tradition, Yukar aims to share the stories of the people and places of Hokkaido. Yukar fills in the blanks of Japan’s largest frontier through visual and written storytelling.
Contribution Guidelines
You decide the length. Whatever is needed to tell the story, we’ll edit for brevity.
Have a timeline for completion. Generally, one month from start to finish would be nice. We’ll play ball if you want to get stuff done quicker or cheer you on if you need time.
Collaborate with the editor on your idea. (ideally within the week of submission)
You will exclusively own the rights to your work. All credit will be duly given.
